Is this plastic bit split?
Toilet cistern, making funny noise when flushing.
Loose handle wiggles around. The white bit inside (top of photo) has a gap.
Can't tighten and it's in 2 pieces.
Sorry, new phone. Can't draw arrows.
II have posted about the noise ages ago. Just need to know this bit please. Thanks.

no it’s not split, certain models come like that.
The noise is mostly probably filling valve

Thanks Plumb, there's a few things to do which I can't so I'll stick it on the list 🙂

The noise certainly ain't down to the handle.
These handles do tend to wobble around - lots of clearance. I hate that, and often add plastic washers and anything I can to firm it up.
These are usually fitted in two pieces; there's the white plastic bit with the thread, which comes with that nut, and with what looks like some form of black spacer? That's one 'piece' - it's passed through the cistern body from the outside, and that white nut is tightened up to hold it securely.
Then the metal handle's spindle is passed through this, a washer slipped over the end to take up slack, and then usually a split-pin is passed through the spindle to stop it being pulled out again.
I don't see a split-pin on yours, so I'm purely guessing that either that separate white ring/washer/collar is pushed on to the spindle end, pressed firmly over the flared part (it would have to be soft plastic) and then plops into place where it is to hold the handle, or, this spindle is fitted from the inside, with that washer in place, and then the actual handle is attached to the outside, and takes up the slack.
Any chance of a pic of the handle? Or does anyone know how this is fitted?
Anyhoo, it doesn't make any difference - they are wobbly, and that's hard to sort, but it ain't the cause of the noise😁

Thanks WAIW. I've got my head around that now. 🤞

It's a Thomas Dudley fitting, so at the better quality end of the market for flush mechanisms.
