Stansted Airport Zone K appeal how?

Hi,

I went to the drop off zone K yesterday. I drove around until I thought I was zone K and drove past two buses that were together, briefly saw the entrance for Zone K in the split second I had after passing the buses but saw a big no entry red cross so with cars behind me thought it would be the next entrance. As I drove past I saw that the sign had 'except for drop off' in small letters under the big red no entry cross. i couldn't reverse up at this point as there were buses and cars right behind me so thought the easiest line of no resistance would be to go round again.

I went through again, collected my entry ticket, and waited 20 mins for my family and the loaded up the car to leave. Upon exit I thought I'd just be waved through electronically but it wouldn't let me through without paying £40!

Surely this is scandalous for an innocent mistake? Would they rather I reversed up and caused an accident with buses etc? Can I claim for this? I'm so angry for doing the right thing even a day later!

Pete

I guess they must have some system that detects multiple drop-offs and you only get the first one for free. Ideally you would have contacted customer services on the intercom at the barrier and sorted it there, but your only option now is to complain to the parking operator and see if they will refund the charge If you still have your tickets they might be timestamped so you can show the first go around was an error?

Yes I have both tickets which show entry times within 5 minutes of each other. Yeah,I would have not paid but my son asked to drive home (needs the practice as only passed his test a few months ago) and it seemed easier not to kick up a fuss. I presumed they would understand and refund easily enough……….
