Presumably OP was selectively bragging about the 75% (later corrected anyway, to more like 39%) being from the two best performers, whereas the overall portfolio will be giving more modest returns?

Yes, perhaps that's it. If the OP picked those two in isolation then they have been lucky. If the overall portfolio has performed a little below the FTSE, then there is nothing to brag about.
