Unbelievable abuse if power
Apologies in advance but feel the need to rant about the absolute highwaymen G24 parking and what seems all private parking companies are all a bunch of 🤬🤬🤬
And due to this process am no in a slight position of financial hardship
In a nutshell (sort of)
2023 bought a carpark ticket £5 stayed within my time used bank card for bank statement proof
2024 8 months later court letter for £250 for lack of ticket on said carpark
NB no previous letters
Customer service - waste of skin imo .. not interested in proof pay up or else debt collectors and interest
Litigation solicitor sourced and he agreed unreasonable behaviour etc huge abuse of power
Anyway, after 6 more months of letters and !!!!!! G24 didnt even show up to court proceedings twice, the 3rd time they offered to reduce the payment to £125 .. I SHOULDN'T EVEN BE IN THIS SITUATION, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY THEM?
G24 have now dropped there claim which in effect means i have won but not accepting any admission of wrong doing or lack of clerical error
I am at a complete loss ... what at first looked like a straight forward. I had done everything correct and being ordered to pay £250 or the boys with thumb screws are coming round... i have spunked a fair sum on solicitors letters etc with the assurance of costs being paid back. The only way forward i have is to pursue a counter claim in the hope that any sane Judge will see that i am in the right and this is a massive abuse of power ..... fkn fuming I'm being punished for doing the right thing 🤬🤬🤬
Sorry for the rant .... i need to vent
Thanks for reading (if you got to the end)

sounds about par for the course, unfortunately.
if it happens again, just come and follow the information on here. You don’t need a solicitor to fight these charges. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.6 -
Hopefully your solicitor will have told you at the start of the process that legal costs aren't generally recoverable when using the small claims track.

A counter claim should have been done when the defence was filed, otherwise you cannot counter claim retrospectively.
As mentioned above, solicitor fees are generally not recoverable on the small claims track
A lot of these cases get discontinued, there are over 780 discontinuation cases in the tally thread by Umkomaas

What a shame you discovered this website and forum so late in the process.
Make sure friends and family know about the help available and at least they will be able to save heartache and money.

And so you should be "fkn fuming I'm being punished for doing the right thing 🤬🤬🤬". Shame you paid a solicitor when help fighting pcns here costs you nothing.
What legal company did G24 use? BW legal? DCB Legal? How close to the hearing date did they discontinue the claim?
I'm always a bit concerned when people say "NB no previous letters". Please do check address on your V5C to ensure your current one is on it.

Presumably your solicitor is applying for costs but I don't understand why you say you were 'ordered to pay £250' given G24 discontinued.
Massive mistake to use a solicitor.
DCB Legal would always have discontinued and defending is a very simple process that every poster here handles easily.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
