Deleting ALL Cookies

Does anyone know how you can delete ALL cookies from your computer?

I have tried deleting "temporary internet files" through windows explorer and also "deleting cookies" and "deleting files" from the tools / internet options menu when in the internet.

However there still appears to be some cookies that the computer memorises and am concerned about the security risk. For example when logging in to Amazon it will come up with my e-mail if I type the first letter and then fill in the password when I press return.

Grateful for any advice.

Thats stored in the Forms settings.

In Internet Explorer 7 select Tools => Internet Options

    Content => Auto Complete Settings

    Uncheck Forms and password etc.

    Thanks Chris - really useful.

However am still concerned that the information is obviously still stored on the computer and someone could get to it. Are these not cookies that can be deleted?

    Cheers

    Use Firefox.
Change the setting to delete all on exit.

Or CTRL-SHIFT-DEL will delete when you want.

    Another vote for CCleaner.

Something that a lot of people forget are flash cookies.
You can delete them here or use CCleaner and that gets rid of them

The autocomplete data is not cookies. It is stored on your hard drive, but, unlike cookies, websites cannot see your autocomplete data. In that respect, it's safe.

Another user can see your autocomplete data (including the passwords you use to access these websites) if you go away from your desk without first logging out or locking your PC. But if you do that, then you have many more things to worry about than just your autocomplete data. They can also access your documents, change your Windows password etc. I recommend never leaving your computer without first locking or logging out.

Anyway, if you are still concerned, you can switch off the autocomplete feature in your AutoComplete Settings dialog box.
