Are there any free HPI check sites that can be used for any car?

That thread is out-of-date and the latest post is from last October. It doesn't point you to a site which gives free checks.

Quite correct.

It explains in great length why there are no free checks that anyone here recommends.

Car data checks are very much a case of "get what you pay for" and a false economy to rely on unsound data.

If the OP wants to know whether the car is OK, for free, then ask the seller while remembering if the seller has a HPI check, any warranty as to accuracy lies with the seller and not the purchaser.

If the OP wants to get valid assurance with security in their favour, the OP needs to pay.

And not forgetting that an HPI is only a small part of checking a car is what the seller claims. Does the seller know that
when the vehicle was new the transporter driver damaged it and that required a new door and a partial respray?

I actually knew someone that had a brand new car and water entered through the poorly fitting door seals because they
had repaired the car but missed where the door frame had distorted slightly but just enough to allow water past the seals.

If you want to know what your buying get it checked.

No, there is a charge for doing checks, why would a company pay the charge on your behalf if you arent paying them anything?
