Travel insurance conundrum

Guidance needed!

I need to purchase travel insurance and I think an annual policy is my best bet. However, for each trip, different family members will be travelling: couple/single adult/children/family. Does that matter for an annual policy?

Thank you

Travellers are covered not buyers, so if you have a family policy (which will only cover those living at the same address, maybe kids at uni) then all of you guys will be covered for trips you take collectively or individually but anyone else travelling with you won't be and they will need their own cover.

The two issues with separate policies is 1) variation of terms, so you may find you are covered but your uncle isnt or visa versa just because of you bought from X and they bought from Y and 2) You may have problems with pre-existing conditions your travelling companions or their relatives have because they cannot be declared on your policy so similar to 1 they may be able to cancel because their heart condition flares up but you can't cancel as you can't declare it on your policy as they arent covered by your policy

I have an annual policy through my bank. It covers me and my partner if we travel together, me if I travel alone, my partner if they travel alone. It also covers the grandkids if they are travelling with us, and would cover kids if we had any under our care. It doesn't cover Uncle bob who lives elsewhere.
