I would disagree about the software, their UI on everything is awful, from adwords to android.

They are on the backfoot on AI and their results based AI is truly awful IMO.

It is not really free, there is a trade of utility vs your privacy.

They allow ads from scammers and enable them to get weak minded people to buy the tripe products.

Their mentality can be understood by reading the book "in the plex"

Or you could look at their monopolistic conduct or their hacking and theft of data when creating Google maps, they tried to pass it off as a mistake until the memo's were leaked by engineers who warned management that the worm they were using to hack wifi's along the way to send back data using private wifi would also hack any devices connected to those routers.

Currently they block access to streetview on Apple iPhones and iPad to force them to use Google App Store product as mobile is far less secure a platform for privacy.

If they ever had anyone with a passion for writing cutting edge software then they left years ago.

They did not dare do geo-fencing of users in their home, so they bought Waze for a billion as they were already doing it. If you don't lock them down they will map out your home and sell that data, if you object they will say we hear you but we are going to do it anyway and call it legitimate interest.

Google is the very definition of a monopoly, it should be broken up in my opinion, they are worse than AT&T ever were and they were broken up.

Just my opinion, I would never buy a device from them, their first spyware was a toolbar in a browser, then they brought out their own browser, then they bought Motorola so they could get their head around having their own phones. Microsoft matched them by making Win10 and onwards an advertising platform with an GUI attached.

Apple is no better, they show you the analytics they collect but they do not allow you to delete it and they do not allow the tools that would empower users onto the Apple App Store.

Any App you develop for the Android can be decompiled, hacked and re-uploaded to the Google Android platform.

For these reasons wherever possible I try to use Linux or a locked down old version of Windows.

To suggest Google is free is just inaccurate.

Linux is free and there is an army of developers out there making it viable. It ain't no windows but it is also not spyware like almost all Google products are.

I have given up on the idea of that laptop for them.

Trustpilot reviews and ebay reviews are dire

It might work to begin with but not for long.

I am searching eBay as advised for second hand corporate kit.

If they want a huge screen they can connect it to TV or I have a 24 inch screen they can have.
