Will Retrieval

Hi,

My Father-in-Law passed away on Tuesday 17th Feb. He had a will prepared through Saga Legal Services.

I understand that Saga legal Services have "merged" with Co-op legal services. However, I'm told the will "storage" is still managed by Saga.

We are trying to retrieve the will, however no matter who we call, they don't have the access to the will or the contact information of who to speak to to retrieve the will, I am just going around in circles.

Has anyone else had dealings with Saga Legal Services with regard to Wills? if so, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have so far written to the CEO of Saga, and I know of the search facility of the National Will Service.

Thanks in advance.

I get the impression (may well be wrong) that Saga farmed out their will-writing to individual will-writers. Do you know who might ACTUALLY have written/prepared the will?

    Have you tried this number?

It's all a mess. The original will was written in 2015 by Cogent Law who went into administration in 2016. Plexus Law were then appointed to take over and they also went into administration in July 2023. Axiom Ince & Co were then appointed but were shut down by the Solicitors Regulation Authority later the same year.

Apparently all the documents are now held by the SRA and I have to fill out a form for them to try and find the will which, according to them, could take up to 8 weeks, and there's no guarantee they can find it.

Thanks, didn't know about that one, I must have tried half a dozen different numbers. My email to the Saga CEO has been fruitful though, they were the ones who pointed me in the direction of the SRA.

Update: Thankfully, we received the original will today. Now on to Probate!
