I'm not surprised that Chase are clamping down on customers who repeatedly open accounts just for switching them away. RBS closed my accounts a few years ago for the same reason, and I'm now banned from RBS/NatWest for life.

Wow, sorry to here that. I'd better be careful then. Thanks for the info.

AHH, I see. Do you happen to know if most banks allow additional current accounts? :-)

Most seem to (at least the bricks'n'mortar ones). I've held multiple CAs with Barclays, RBS, Lloyds, Santander, Nationwide and (I think) Co-op & Halifax.

Almost all do, it's just you need to be sensible with not repeatedly opening accounts to switch, really you only need 1-2 spare donor accounts to bump around, opening a new one for each switch is excessive
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Another question please:
Barcays and Lloyds premier accounts (400/500 switch offers)
I've got the 5k to put into the accounts intially, but I'm not a "high earner". does it matter if I'm not a high earner as long as I've got the initial £4000/£5000 intial payins?
TIAFAR :-)

You really need to read the terms & conditions of those accounts to see if there's an annual income condition.
The subject's already been covered more than once in the dedicated Lloyds switch thread for the current offer.
