The "silver" is presumably plastic? Is the SS actually SS or is it just a different colour plastic?

We've had both. No material difference on damage/ scratches or such but personally think the SS looks much better. On our last purchase we paid a small premium for the SS finish. Samsung discontinued it for some reason though still do the all plastic versions so not sure if they had issues with it or we were an outlier and no one else was paying the premium for the look.

I found stainless steel harder to keep clean, fingerprints were very difficult to remove. Silver paint just wipes clean.

Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I suspect SS and Silver are just finishes, and the actual skin will be identical material, most likely thin sheet steel with a decorative film; if you knock it hard, it'll dent.

    Are they the same price?

The 'silver' will likely have an even finish as if it were painted, which it may have been, or it could be an applied decorative film. It's durable, tho', and you'd need to be careless to scratch it. The 'SS' is likely to be a film too, but have a brushed or grain finish - again durable, and you'd have to be careless to mess it up.

Since it's (unlikely to be) real SS, and therefore not as shiny, then it won't be as prone to showing fingerprints and marks. In fact I doubt there will be any difference between the two colours in this respect - it's just pure personal taste.

Bare, true, SS can look too clinical imo, so that's another reason to doubt that's the real finish. But a slightly more subdued SS film will, imo, look better than plain silver.

Any chance of linkies to them?

Ours, I believe, is true SS. Touch was cold, the silver felt like plastic but I could be wrong. Was about 15% premium on ours but the OP says the two they are looking at are the same price.

SS is certainly a look, and it's favoured by the higher tier brands (sorts you have to sell a kidney to be able to afford). Those go further and I would say actually look more industrial. Personally like it, some may hate it but then that goes with absolutely everything.

Do you like fridge magnets? Our Samsung (silver) does stick on the doors but not the side, and I know other silver ones don't always hold a magnet, so maybe something to consider

Thank you for all the advice and things to think about. I think is a as finish but focusing now on warranty and controls, it replaces a retro style one which is retro in its control and to get the fridge right the freezer is 25 degrees and on the setting they recommend , minus 30!
