The dogs do seem to be a lot quieter, but I haven't been home as much this week.

Still not seen the dogs being walked or the neighbours to say hello too

Some people keep their dogs outside for cultural/religious reasons or if they are 'working' dogs or breeds that struggle inside due to their thick coat etc. Breeders do often keep dogs outside (one of my dogs was used for breeding before being rescued and she hadn't lived indoors before - or even had a bed) Others because they don't want them making a mess of the house, especially in the winter. Sometimes just personal preference.

My next door neighbour puts their large young dog out in the small garden at 8am and lets it back in the house (kitchen only) about 10pm all year round - it doesn't get walked. It has a plastic kennel. It barks for hours on end every day because it's bored. They are not out at work as he doesn't work. No life for the poor dog but they don't see anything wrong with it. Other neighbours keep their dogs in an outdoor kennel in the garden all day and night, but they sometimes let the dogs into the house at the weekends. They are never walked and bark a lot.

Personally, I wouldn't have dogs if I wasn't prepared to have a messy house at times, make sure all their needs are met physically and psychologically and give them a blooming good life - so while my dogs can access the garden 24/7 through a flap, they are never shut out there and generally can be found lounging on a sofa indoors, when we're not out walking etc.

I do have to wonder why some people get dogs at all!
