Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for the start today. After a couple of days of dry weather with sunshine we're back to grey skies with sleet forecast for later today. We've already had a brief flurry of snow about half an hour ago. Brrr.
I did a bit of local shopping yesterday to top up the essentials and am happy to see the freezer contents are going down a bit more quickly now that I have a 'lodger'! We had pancakes yesterday, filled with corned beef hash and topped with cheese plus some side salad. A couple each for afters with the traditional lemon & sugar too. All very nice. The shoes I ordered are on their way, I hope they fit otherwise it will mean a trip to the PO to return them.
@Ruby - I hope you can get O out today.
@Gers - I'm so sorry you've had news of yet another passing and can understand how unsettling it is. Look after yourself.
@Izzy - The other day I was having a conversation with someone and, when the subject of age came up, I honestly struggled to remember how old I am. Not that I'm bothered by my age, it's just a number, but it does come as a shock when you hear people younger than yourself have died.
@Chrisca - Good to hear the dentist visit went well.
Not much else to report so I'll push off, besides which DS needs the laptop as it's a work from home day for him. Take care all, stay warm and dry if you can. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning all! Very brrr this morning, think it's going to be a light the fire day. I did ahem acquire some cardboard yesterday and get some stuff printed so I was two for two yesterday in job ticks. I made some mince and onion to make pasties today too. Not an awful lot, but today looks to be even less job related activity. It's due to start raining/sleeting/snowing about two o clock so any outside jobs have to be done soon. Talking about age, I had an ex make contact last year [ usual reasons, he was feeling his age and wanted to reconnect with his youth, I didn't] but while I was investigating, I found some pictures of him online [ nothing like the profile photos he was sharing] and he looked like a little old man! And then I realised I look like a fat old woman 🤣🤣 …
Ruby, I was joking, the people on the decluttering thread use it to quantify the stuff they have craft wise, it's as Coxy said, stash acquired beyond life expectancy…I have a few of those too..How's your refit going? Gers, I'm sorry about your mams friend..When I go to the cemetery to see my parents [ not very often, they're in Wales obviously and I'm here] I see all the old graves and think about the people they were and whether anyone remembers them anymore..This is the reason I want to be cremated and scattered in skips [ standing joke but true], or anywhere really, there'll be nothing of me left except in memories. camelot, hope the appointment goes well. Izzy, your charity shop sounds good :) Allie, have a nice time away. SO, if I could guarantee I wouldn't spill, I'd be doing tea in bed too…My parents had the ubiquitous teasmade and they actually used it too…Maybe I need a modern one. Rosy, good to hear people are admiring him [ the dog, not DH] that did make laugh 😄 Take care all, enjoy the day before the weather goes a bit nuts….

Mirror, mirror on the wall - WHO is that person I see??? Yes, I don't mind being older just mind getting even older! And I mind being the head of the family and without anyone to say 'do you remember when we…:
When I took my bedding to the dry cleaners the woman there did them immediately, it as lovely putting my hands inside the warm sheets. That wind is wicked. Drove up to the big town, handed over my return parcel and did a little bit of shopping in Marks, got my free birthday month treat of a box of chocolate truffles which are very welcome. Fuelled up the car and then drove home, stopping off halfway to hand in the newspapers my friends asked for but didn't stay long.
I've had mac 'n' cheese for lunch, took it out of the freezer yesterday. Now got a pot of tomato soup on the go for later in the week. Tomorrow I'm off down to Glasgow on the coach to see 'Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger's Drift' - the old Troy is now playing Barnaby.
Hugs to all.
