Spray Foam Foam Removal Compensation

We had spray foam installed in 2024 and due to all the adverse reaction and publicity we realised that we were mis-sold it. The company who installed it are no longer trading but we purchased it on finance. Has anyone managed to get back any compensation based on similar situations?

To be clear, having a product/service that has been deemed to have been mis-sold to someone doesn't automatically make every sale of said product/service mis-selling.

For example, the current mis-selling noise is focused on car finance at the moment, where some finance agreements featured hidden Discretionary Commissions Arrangements that the customer was not aware of. In this scenario, a customer who had been made aware of the DCA and proceeded anyway would not have a case for being mis-sold. Similar with interest only mortgages, there were some examples of mis-selling, but it was not systemic.

To apply it to your case - why do you think you have been mis-sold (aside from the internet suggesting it)? Can you evidence any examples of being mis-sold? E.g. were you promised it would save you loads of money on your heating that hasn't materialised? Has it caused moisture issues or an issue with a mortgage?

Unfortunately, you'll find as with many gold rushes, the people making the money are the ones selling the shovels - in this case the plethora of pseudo-legal companies promising to get compensation.

If you can evidence that you were mis-sold and if you purchased with a CC, you could consider a s75 claim.

If you've experienced no issues, and are only motivated to look into this because of what you have seen online, I'd probably forget about it.

Also keep in mind that the internet can be somewhat of an echo chamber. If you show an interest or engage with a certain content topic, algorithms will endeavour to show you more of it, which likely explains why I've never seen anything organically about mis-selling of spray foam insulation, yet you suggest everyone's talking about it.

Annoyingly I bought a BBQ about 2 weeks ago (good price since it's cold outside!), but because I did a bit of research on it, all of my feeds are now BBQ related content 😓
