Yes it is self managed and it is free. I use it but I just buy shares in a Vanguard FTSE All World Fund (VWRP)
It is a fund provided by Vanguard (large reputable investment company with low fees) and is made up of stocks in 3797 companies (large and mid-sized company stocks in developed and emerging markets)
So it is 'self managed' in the sense I decided to buy into this fund but the stocks themselves are chosen by Vanguard and track the performance of the Index by investing in a representative sample of Index constituent securities.
Lots of other funds are available from Vanguard or other investment platforms but it is a cheap and safe way of investing in a range of companies.
