Booking a holiday for 2 people and 1 goes
Hi
I want to go on holiday on my own and have a swim-up room but most places say it is a minimum 2 person for these rooms, it is working out around the same price if I book for 2 people or 1 person because of the supplement charges. Would this be a problem with the flight and the hotel, I can't image there would be any problems with the flight but would the hotel likely move me but I am the only person in the room even though I have paid for 2?
Many Thanks

Contact the hotel directly and ask for a rate for 1 person in a swim-up room.

I found this incredibly common when planning family holidays (referring to overseas resort style holidays), where some of the siblings have partners/kids and some did not.
I suspect it's because the hotels plan all of their costings on the assumptions that each room will have two paying guests. If all their rooms were booked up by solo travellers, they naturally wouldn't take in as much money. So I found, as the OP has, that if you try to enter 1 person, a supplement would usually bring the cost up to effectively the 2-person rate - I'd imagine this is by design.
Unfortunately it can be very cost ineffective to travel solo to resorts. Is there anyone that you could consider bringing along (their accommodation would effectively be free) or you could seek out accommodation that doesn't have that pricing strategy (though I suspect many of the big all-inclusive resorts will, at least the several I checked).
I don't understand the latter point about whether there would be any problems with the hotel moving you, why would they if you've paid?Know what you don't0 -
it’s going to work out expensive if you are paying for a flight you don’t need. I’d be looking to book direct with the hotel and arrange your flights separately.

TUI do a number of hotels for single travellers - worth asking at a store.
I reckon Jet2 will do so as well.
