Unoccupied house insurance awaiting probate
My father died just before Christmas. The house insurance company said they would only continue cover for 60 days. Now I'm struggling to find a company that will cover the house unoccupied for what could be many months.
Is anyone able to recommend a company? I'm just wanting buildings insurance, not contents.

Not sure if they're still around, but we used Towergate some years ago.

Usually available via a broker. Not a comparison website.
AXA Homeprotect, UKinsuranceNET, Birnbeck, Brunel and others

Its a niche area and sold via brokers not mass market distribution like confused.com
Policies vary significantly on their requirements for visits, water being drained etc so make sure you understand the policy before buying it.

Howdens have covered our Mum's home for 2 years while she was in the Care Home. And now up to the sale of the home during Probate which is taking another year.
They also have offices in several towns which is also convenient.

I used these - I didn't have to claim so can't comment on how good they would have been if I'd had too
