Barclays Internal Credit Scores

Hi

Does anyone have any details of the internal scoring system Barlcays use for their current accounts and credit cards (I notice someone has posted the same question about HSBC and I got intrigued).

I was told I need 240 to get a Breathe Card from Barclaycard, but I dont know what it is out of and how it is made up and to get my existing score higher. Also for a current account, what is the score range and what does it get you i.e. an overdraft, eligbility for a loan? and again how to you get a higher score?

Cheers

James

  • I asked the same thing-

Wondered if anyone could answer the following questions for me please?
Do Barclays have an internal credit scoring system?
Does anyone have inside information on how to improve this score with them (i.e. is it dependant on amount going in versus money going out? staying in credit or staying well within your overdraft? etc)
Having used creditexpert.com for 18 months now, I've managed to get a good Experian score through changing some habits and it gives you tips to do this. The bank are a bit more secretive with how they measure how credit-worthy you are.
My partner's online banking always shows pre-approved offers such as loan amounts, increased overdraft facilities, etc. Mine does not do this which makes me wonder if they view me differently. My partner's account is a Current account Additions Plus. Mine is a Graduate Additions. I doubt this has anything to do with it though? Can anyone shed any light please?
I'm not after any credit from Barclays at the moment but it would be great to know how to improve my score with them should I need anything from them in the future.
    Thank you
  • there is internal credit score in barclays but it doesnt have any points. it is called limits and if you have any, you will be able to get a credit scored product for 99%.

it doesnt relate to barclaycard which is seperate entity to barclays.

    Hi Robertj

Do you know when they update the decisions i.e. is it monthly, weekly, and do the branch see anything different from customers in the "pre-approved" offer section on internet banking.

I have a strange experience with it. After 6 months it offered me a loan of £6000 and an OD of £300 (I have one of £100). Then it disappeared and has never re-appeared since, so now I am not really entitled to my £100 overdraft apparentlt that was manually loaded.

    Cheers

normally after 9 months of having account and limits are refreshed every 1 weekend of a new month. also updating your details (like income and commitments) can change your limits, and they can appear or disappear.
