OK, makes sense.

@General_query I agree with Herzlos.
You need to have a look at the deeds and where the boundary line is, then assuming no boundary has been legally moved, write to number 5 and state that their driveway has been built in your land, and this is just to let them know that you will be putting up a fence along the boundary line.
Would this then help your own parking? Could you then park on your own land?
The neighbour at #6 has no rights to park but is clearly someone who loves drama.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)2 -
I think you should claim your land back, which I hope means you have a space to park

Okay, thanks for the replies. They knocked again at 9pm last night (bit late when we have young son). We didn't answer….
Anyway, quick re-clarification: Number 5 bought their ex-council house and built a drive approx 2008 (with verbal permission from my girlfriends mum). They lived there a few years and have rented it out to other families since. We do not have any contact details for the ex-neighbours who now rent it out.
Our house was also bought and owned by my girlfriends sister, but she is letting us live there now since their mum died and house was stood empty.
We moved in officially end of October but had spent months doing it up, previous family renting No. 5 had no car, so we were okay to park outside our house (which has no drive), close to our gate but not blocking access to No.5 obviously.
They moved out and new family moved in just after us. They have 2 cars but never tried to use driveway. Big bust up with No 6 about them temporarily blocking HER in, and now this, No 5 have given us a note saying please stop blocking access to their drive as they need it 24/7.
Whether or not the owners of No 5 built their driveway underhandly (stealng land from both sides) is a side issue, I just need to know if I can still park outside our house - number 4 - (not the real numbers in case any forum mods disapprove), even if it does mean No 5 can not drive into / out of there drive?
PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THESE LATEST HEAVILY EDITED PICTURES, IT IS THE ONLY WAY OTHER FORUM MEMBERS CAN GET A CLEAR PICTURE OF THE PARKING SCENARIO - THANK YOU.
Hopefully these pictures are self-explanatory and will remain on this forum thread.
Comments please…… I bet when I come back from going out this evening they will have moved one car onto the drive and left their other huge one where I currently park along the hedge outside of our house and number 3's - which no doubt they will do as long as they rent that house once they've got a foot in the door so to speak.
Last one above, so can I park here despite the house owners (not these private renting tenants) having paid for and built a drive? It is at an angle so anyone entering / leaving there drive isn't straight along the wooden fence, if that makes sense.
Yes, I know no one has the right to park outside their own house - unless they have paid for a dropped kerb, but where do I stand in these circumstances please? I'm not trying to cause trouble, just need to know my rights as I can't keep my car outside of our house forever. Thanks.

Same as yesterday. The answer depends on the status of the 'road', and if it isn't highway maintained at public expense then who owns the land and what rights have been granted to the adjacent properties.
If it is 'public highway' then unless the street has some form of parking restriction then nobody can stop you parking in the yellow area if you are not obstructing number 5's driveway.
Having a dropped kerb (or not) makes no difference in this situation. And having a dropped kerb doesn't give you the right to park on either the road or the front garden.

Thanks. That's the problem though, if you look at my last picture and imagine that is the awful renters at number 6's car parked there if I parked in the yellow area I marked then I am preventing the people renting No 5's house as they can't get their car/s past me as I am parked outside our house with the nose of my car about a foot away from No 3's wooden gate and path (which I NEVER block). Guess we'll see what has happened when I get back tonight, but if they haven't taken the space I currently am parked in and put one of their 2 cars on the drive then surely I am allowed to park there again tonight, even though they will knock on the door again and again until we answer. 😯

My car would be like in the middle photo (AUG2024) except parked much further away from their gate / drive, near the gate / path going to No 3's - just missing from these pictures - but they still wouldn't be able to get around me to park on / leave their drive (well, the drive that the owners of No. 5 built). Aaaaaarggh.
Could the renters of No 5 call the Police and say I am blocking access to / from their drive?

They could. would the police do anything?
The only way to sort it properly is to get the correct boundary re- established.
