Cheap energy club - projected cost

With actual KWh figures entered, on the results pages going through More Info > How Does it compare with my current tariff? the gas and electricity Projected Cost figures showing for Current Supplier seem to be some 3% to 5% higher than I'd expect.

The results under New Deal do match calculated figures - assuming a calculation of 365 x standing + annual KWh x unit rate and using VAT inclusive rates.

Is your existing tariff for a fixed term?

Could it be that your fixed tariff ends within 12 months? If so, is the CEC assuming you will fall onto your suppliers default tariff when your current tariff ends?

Try extending the end date in the CEC of your existing tariff to at least 12 months away, if it will let you, to see if that gets the answer you want. Don't forget to revert it back afterwards.

If still no joy, I would suggest emailing MSE at energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com - they'll be able to assist

Thanks - this was the answer - the CEC is using current rates until the end dates entered and then flexible tariff rates for the rest of the 12 months.
