Excel Parking Services

I’ve received two PCN’s from the above company. I visited a travel show which was being hosted by Holiday Inn, Southend Airport. Free parking was advertised. When I arrived there was nothing to say how to park for free, so I pulled over for 5 mins to try and check things out. Another couple went in to ask. I then parked and went into the show. I appealed the fines but, of course, my appeals were dismissed. Holiday Inn say the land is not owned by them, but by Southend AirPort. They write that I ignored the non stopping sings which were “highly visible”…i didn’t see them and I can’t decide whether to pay the discounted rate of £60 per PCN but why two of them?

I didn’t notice them, if they were there then they certainly weren’t obvious. I admit I stopped but I don’t understand why I’ve got two tickets for stopping for 5 mins. I didn’t cause an obstruction. But according to Excel there are “highly visible “ signs up saying it’s a no stopping zone. I will just pay it and move on but it’s made me not want to drive anywhere now, unless I know what the parking situation is, before I go.
