Jet2 Cabin Luggage
Just noticed on my booking with Jet2 an optional extra, to pay for guaranteed cabin luggage.
Details state that if you do not and there is insufficient storage in the cabin, you may be asked to put your hand luggage in the hold.
I only take a rucksack that I always put under the seat in front.
Has anyone had any experience of this?
Must say some people do take the mickey with cabin luggage.

Can't speak from any experience of Jet2's policies on this, but if your bag fits below the seat in front of you then I can't see how they could object to that - this is surely more about space in the overhead lockers?

Jet2 gate staff will assess whether your luggage needs to go in the overhead locker, if it does it gets tagged. Once the overheads are full it will need ro go in the hold. Alternatively you can pay to guarantee an overhead locker tag.
However having done many Jet2 flights with a rucksack or sports bag (which will fit under the seat) I just put it in the overhead locker and it has never been removed.0 -
I think it is quite common now (or even always has been the case?) that you get "free" cabin luggage allowance subject to space. If there is no space, your bag goes in the hold, but you are not charged for hold luggage in that occurrence. If you pay. you can guarantee the space being in the overhead locker and someone else's bag goes in the hold.
If you only have the small bag that fits under the seat in front, I can't see that being affected.

The only time this may be an issue is if you're in an exit row, or a front row, where your bag has to go up in the lockers and if others have paid yours will be first in the hold. That's a very unlikely scenario though.

Never been on a Jet2 flight where there's been any issue with cabin luggage capacity. The vast majority of their flights carry a high proportion of package holiday customers, who generally carry less cabin baggage as they have a good hold allowance. YMMV of course, but I wouldn't worry, especially if it's under seat sized.

What does YMMV mean, please?

I always pay for guaranteed cabin baggage, mainly because I carry a lot of camera gear and don't want to risk being told that has to go into the hold. I have never been given tags to put on the hand luggage.

Thanks for all the information.

You can take an under-seat bag onboard "such as a handbag, laptop bag or airport purchase, as long as it doesn't exceed 40 x 30 x 20cm in size and can be placed underneath the seat in front of you".
We have the extra leg room seats and they ask that these bags go in the overhead lockers for take off and landing.
Its the 10kg hand luggage (no larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm) that might get put in the hold on busy flights (add Guaranteed Cabin Luggage to keep it with you if you want to be sure).
