As with your previous question about another similar outfit, there's a wealth of information readily available in existing threads, so worth a search.

how do i search for posts on UBL UK on the forum? when I put that into the search bar, it brings up information on the bank not the comments from members on here.

update - found it. i was putting the search into the wrong search bar. i wouldn't say a "wealth of information". i found one comment about their ISA maturing and that was negative. the others don't seem to indicate whether this bank is good or not.

Fair enough - I just saw a list of search results but didn't follow each one to read all the individual threads, so they're maybe not as illuminating as I thought they would be!

If you search just for UBL ( forget the UK), you will see more threads about their seemingly poor service.

thanks, you are right, searching without the word "UK" seems to bring up more results! yeah doesn't sound great so will leave it.

I just opened an account with them all went smoothly. I needed to speak with customer service and was able to reach someone easily and quickly by phone. So far, all good! And as you say, not a bad interest rate (in comparison to others) for a one-year bond.

    With respect, does it matter?

Whenever I am considering using any business I am unfamilar with, I try first to gain my own experience of them first hand. Much better than relying on the anonymous posts/rants of others posted on the internet.

e.g. if I phone a business and am greeted as follows:

"Thank you for calling. Your call is important to us. All our staff are busy at present, but we will be with you as soon as we can. You are currently number ... 623 ... in the queue, and your call should be answered in ... 3 hours time. Please bear with us whilst we are dealing with our other callers. Or you may wish to hang up and try again later."

Or I send an email and wait almost 3 weeks to get any response, I then know what I may be letting myself into.

(Please note the above experiences are not related to UBL, but are genuine responses I have received from some businesses I was otherwise considering using)

UBL UK Reviews | Read Customer Service Reviews of www.ubluk.com

As much as I distrust trustpilot, and so am loathe to even suggest them here, it is perhaps most interesting to note that most if not all reviews left before 09-Oct-2025, good, bad and intermediate, were responded to by UBL UK, and it is perhaps the nature and substance of those replies that perhaps assists you in assessing UBL UK, rather than than the actual reports/reviews left by others.

The fact that UBL UK ceased doing that 4 months ago I suggest may be a reflection on trustpilot and it's user content, rather than UBL UK, but you need to make up your own mind about that.

    ETA2:

I am an existing customer of UBL UK. I have not had any cause to contact their customer services so cannot comment on that aspect. I do have some instances of delayed texts (for OTP), but these were rare and from 6+ months ago. Persistency prevailed, and I always gained access within about 10 minutes. But then again I have not had cause to access their online banking since Oct 2025.

just wondered if something was needed in the application process that requires you to call CS to sort it out or something that cropped up with funding of the account.

yeah, this bank doesn't seem to be well known as there aren't that many comments on them on here and the ones that are on here seems to be negative. interesting to hear that you have had a good experience with them.

There was no issue I experienced on opening any account with them that required me to contact their customer services.

My original account was applied for, opened and funded within 24 hours, and that I can see was probably because I applied about 9pm, so waited until the following day to fund it.

I do not hold a fixed term deposit with them, and so I am not sure if the following would apply to you, but I do have a warning marker in place against them because they say they may mark my account as dormant if I do not make any transaction on the account for any period of 24 months or more. I don't think interest credits they apply count as a transaction in this context. To remove a dormancy marker they say they may request my original passport (they will not be getting that), or a certified copy of it.

So I just need to remember to make at least one transaction for each account within any 2 year period; perhaps a withdrawal of accrued interest or a matched credit/debit to maintain the status quo.
