Wise bank transfers
Hi everyone,
I have signed up with Wise to send some money to a relative in Australia. I can see the sort code and account number I have been assigned, however when it links to the Santander account where the money is, a different account number comes up. Sort code is the same though and my name is correct.
I can't find anything in their help section, has anyone else used this and know if that's normal? I'm sending quite a chunk over so really don't want to get it wrong.
Many thanks

So, what did wise support said when you called them?
Or you rather trust more to complete strangers when it comes to "quite a chunk"?0 -
You're not mixing up your Wise GBP and AUD account details by any chance? Aus and UK accounts have an extremely similar format

No. My relative's account details have been verified and I can see those. It's the account number that appears when the Santander app opens to transfer the money from Santander to Wise

Just add your Wise account details as a payee in the Santander app, it should pass verification and then send as a faster payment from there.
From personal experience do not be surprised if Santander security throws a wobbly and you get multiple warning screens before you can finally send the funds or in the worst case you have to call and beg to get your transfer released.
Been there, done that more than once with Santander.
Good luck!
Edit : I always fund my Wise GBP balance first from my bank, close that down and then open the Wise app or web page and send from the GBP balance.
Second Edit : Thinking about it further, if you try to "pull" funds from Santander as part of a transfer within the Wise app, those funds will go directly to Wise and not into your GBP balance, that is probably why a different account appears.2 -
Thanks so much for this tip. I'll try it this way round. Sounds sensible to me!
Thanks again for the useful information
