smart parking fines
Hi
I have had a smart parking charge appeal refused as they say I put in an incorrect vrm. I had put in the correct vrm but it did not registered the last 3 letters (apparentlyy). I had paid for the whole day and was there under 3hours. I am the registered keeper but wasn't the driver which I haven't mentioned. The email said a reduced fine of £20 or I can appeal to the IAS but the fine will increase to £100. I cannot see any code to use to do this. I would not have put in part of the registration and why would it accept only part? I haven't got a ticket so I cannot prove this. I can prove I paid as its on my bank statement. I have read not to try IAS and not to ask for the next step. I need help as I don't know what to do. If I pay then they get away with bullying someone else into paying! Also the incident date was 16 days prior to the date on the letter but I didn't receive the letter until a further 9 days later, (25 days after the parking incident) this however was over the new year. I have read loads on here and have taken advice and messaged the land owner, (actually the manager) as the owner is sw water.
What should I do? Any advice please

Use this calculator to see if your NTK was received in time to hold the keeper liable for the actions of the driver. It is the date the PCN was posted/issued that is important not the date it was received.
If you have appealed and it has been rejected, wait for a letter of claim and follow the advice in the NEWBIE sticky second post. Then wait for the N1SDT claim form from the CNBC where the case will be won (providing you defend it using the template defence.)

It’s also not a fine.
There are so many instances on this board about a correctly input VRM not being registered that it makes you wonder if it is deliberate

PPC's use ANPR for a simple catch em all system that helps no one else but them, it has a capital outlay with very little added ongoing costs compared with the outlay of employing people and vehicles to do manual checks.
Why should you be expected to mess around with their faulty technology and incur additional payments when it fails and you have already paid the landowner over and above the fees due.
This error crops up time and time again as @Jame4ters has stated it really does look dodgy, but they will blame you and the IAS are a sham appeals "service" that brag they reject over 95% of appeals.

Either pay the £20 to end the matter or ignore them of course!
You'll never have to pay anything. Read the NEWBIES thread because you will not be trying the kangaroo court of the 'IAS'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
