Pay Machine Added Time to My Parking

Hello everyone,

I've parked in a hotel car park on New Year's Day this year, and the pay machine added about 20 minutes to my parking time and thus charged me for an extra hour.

I've contacted the hotel, and they said they'll give me 3 hours of parking for next time (that I will never use) and they'll get back to me with the parking company's response (they never did).

It is just £2; however, I don't want to let it slide because it might be deliberate.

What can I do?

A photo of the paid parking stub next to the pay machine's clock is attached.

Many thanks!

    Which parking firm?

I would complain to them first then complain to their trade body that the machine is printing tickets with a very different time on.

I don't know which parking firm. All of the information that I have is here. I can ask the hotel.

James, why do you think it's Parking Eye?

Born_Again, they don't charge for any parts of an hour, and in any case, you can see that the time stamp on the paid card was in the future.

    What time did you arrive?

If you arrived at 1346 and left at 1541, and the machine has added 18 mins to your departure time only, that's very strange and should be questioned.

It seems more likely that the machines clock is out by 20 mins, so you arrived at 1328 (marked on ticket as 1346) and you left at 1541 (marked as 1559 on ticket) then you've parked for 133 mins, and been charged for 133 mins, but the timestamps are shifted.

The machine's clock was spot-on, and it is the same machine that printed out the paid ticket.

It took me a couple of minutes to figure out what happened, and it charged me for an extra 20 minutes, no question about it.

Is there somewhere that someone can complain about these sorts of things?

To the trade body but you have to complain first to the parking firm,

But the clock is not spot on, its different to the time on the ticket so there is something wrong with it. The question to be answered is whether it's a consistent issue or if it's only adding extra to the leaving time.

When you arrived, it's possible the machine showed 1328, but marked the ticket as 1346.

It's very strange, but not sure who you can complain to beyond the hotel and the parking company....
