"Did not meet Checkatrade Standard"

One of the companies that has quoted for my roof replacement has this warning on Checkatrade. Could there be an innocent reason for this? I'm surprised as they have very good reviews elsewhere and seem like a good established company. Getting these quotes is becoming a bit of a ball ache.

Possibly they have gone rogue. and alerting people ie be aware, as if some are like me I read company reviews several times as/when shortlisting them—or it could be a glitch on the checkatrade site, as I've never seen anything like it.

When using these trade checker sites, be aware that if things go belly up, they often won't do a lot for you

other than lip service and some cover work up to about 1k IIRC

So, do your homework - compare at least three quotes, like for like materials, clear away rubbish, time start/finish etc

Yes I'm not sure those sites offer much reassurance. I'll ask the roofers why they have been blacklisted though. albeit I suppose I will need to take their answer with a pinch of salt!

Very strange, just realised the company has two websites, one with xxx-roofing.co.uk and one xxxroofingltd.co.uk and the company was only registered last year. Pass!

Check against Companies House for all sorts. Location of person actually in charge, staff and longevity. Also if it's a subsidiary. Amazing what turns up.

I check unknowns with Google street view also. You learn a lot.

One I checked like this was one man with a caravan in the middle of a field worked 3 days a week but the website was luxury holidays and amazing website.
