Help please - DCBL letter with fine received without previous notification

Firstly, apologies for posting yet another parking fine query, but I couldn't find anything quite the same. I'm a newbie on here and really hoping you can help.

My son went off travelling in January with his registered address being my parents. They received a letter from DCBL (debt collection bailiffs Limited) with a parking fine from September last year. He overstayed in a supermarket car park. My parents address has been his registered address for the last 3 years and no other correspondence has been received there previously.

How can I fight this on his behalf - Euro Car Parks refer appeals to DCBL but they won't speak to me. The letter also states that "you are no longer able to appeal the parking charge. Your next opportunity to dispute the charge would be if the matter were taken to court".

Thank you

You are all strangers to the case, no authority to fight it, so can't

The DCBL letter should be IGNORED, post 4 in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum, which i don't think that you have read yet

Any future Money Claim should not be ignored, he will need to defend any court claim, to avoid a CCJ

    Yep just ignore DCB Ltd.

Wait for the LBC from DCB Legal. Read up on how to respond, using the template LBC reply in the NEWBIES thread post 2.

  • Thank you for your help - not sure what an LBC is so I'll do some reading. My son is abroad for 6 months so depending on when it gets to court, he may not be around but I guess there's a way we can address this at the time… thanks again

Study the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum by coupon mad, post 5 tells you what the initialisms or acronyms mean ( or Google it. )

You can reply as him, delaying the case at LBC stage by adding a line to the LBC reply. We can tell you at the time.

Then the claim won't come until the early Summer and any hearing is (on average) about ten months after that, in 2027!
