Item Posted 22 Dec been returned to me today by RM
I sold an item in December and it was sent off using Royal Mail under the eBay Simple Delivery scheme.
The buyer never messaged me to ask where it was, so I had no nowledge of it being delayed, until I received it back today
Do I have to refund the item price, or the item price plus postage ?

I don’t think you can actually refund after so long, but even if you did it would be just the amount paid to you by eBay, and that depends on whether buyer or seller paid postage. However , as its SD buyer might already have approached eBay for a refund.

I contacted eBay who said I should do nothing.
The delivery was attempted several times by Royal Mail, so eBay said ' the fault is totally with the buyer and any negative feedback will be removed. The buyer has never messaged me in the 7 weeks since the first delivery was attempted.
The eBay advisor even added .. enjoy the money .. just a pity it's less than a fiver😥 and not £1000😀

I think the seller would see that if ebay had refunded. I did on the occasion that evri marked something as 'secure delivery enclosed porch' and after a bit of digging I accessed the delivery photo of parcel left on a doorstep.
Perhaps the buyer had to go into hospital or moved away suddenly?
You can safely relist the item.
