Airport transfers in Rome
Has anyone got any experience with Sit Bus shuttles? How reliable are they? Is it worth booking a ticket online, or will it be money lost if there is a delay with the flight?
Has anyone got any experience travelling with them, with the very early services? We will need to travel to the airport from the Cironvallazione Aurelia stop.
Is there a chance the bus will come from the previous stops, and there will be no places in the bus?
I also assume you are allowed to have suitcases with you at no extra charge?
Will also appreciate any alternative options. We are a family of 4.
Taxis appear to be very expensive, especially if you are not going to the exact city centre as then you don't qualify for the fixed fee.
Sit buses appears to be the only reasonably priced option that will take us close to the Crowne Plaza hotel.
Many thanks

Which airport are you travelling to, and what time?
Taxis are very expensive in Rome, especially to the airport, compared to the other options available.

There is a direct train service from main railway station every 15 minutes.

Thanks but don't need the train station or anywhere near to it. Our hotel Crowne Plaza is West from city centre.

Sit bus are fine, generally very reliable and there are usually 2-3 buses an hour so if you leave yourself breathing room you can deal with any delays or capacity issues.
The buses all start at Termini (Central Station), and you'll be the second stop from there (they stop at the Vatican first).
They don't guarantee you a seat so there is always a risk the bus will be full when it arrives. It's a small risk as anyone at Termini with any sense will be getting the train or the express bus to the airport so it depends how many people are at the Vatican stop, but a risk nonetheless.
The bus ticket includes one piece of luggage to go in the hold and one rucksack to take on the bus each.
There are plenty of options, but it really depends on the time of your flight as to what's available.
