Morning all from Mehefinland
The mizzle first thing has morphed into bright sunshine - wonder how long it will last?
I'm now an official 'litter champion' for Keep Wales Tidy!! had a meeting with a lovely lady yesterday morning who went through the bumph on her laptop, which I duly signed ,and presented me with a picker, hoop, high viz and a big roll of bags so I'm good to go in a official capacity. Cracking bit of software which allows you to enter where and when you licked, how much, and what etc. and drops into an online map which shows all the areas that have had stuff removed. Apparently it is used for all sorts of things to enable amongst other stuff ; funding, targeting particularly bad areas etc. made my first entry already. The really important part of all this is that I am now insured when out and about doing the bizz.
Took a load of jigsaws and empty jam jars to choir last night for fundraising - jars are destined for marmalade. Perhaps they will do jigsaws whilst they are waiting for it to set lol.
Sweet pea seedlings are romping away - just hope they don't outgrow the containers before I get to planting out - it's too early yet of course. Kitchen windowsill is stuffed with seed trays and mini propagators some of the other stuff i am 'starting'- no shows yet though.
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek

Morning all! I'm glad I don't have to buck the trend of rain, wouldn't want to be the odd one out :) Day of admin and procrasti-stopping yesterday, so car is now booked in to be sorted after a recall, woodchip is coming tomorrow, cardboard man messaged, cancelling auto renewal of breakdown cover finally managed and some front garden tidying and stone moving done. Going to try to make it to allotment today, in between rain hopefully. There are things to do…And my garden waste bag blew away when I was in Wales, so I ordered another one [ well, pack of two actually], it's humungous! I should have taken note of the size more carefully, me and the OH can fit into it…never mind, it'll be perfect for the woodchip transportation…
Ruby, fingers crossed for later on..Gers, oh no, not again, what a pita…coxy, time for a new job? enjoy the walk! Take care all, and dry if you can!

@Gers hope the ABs work, I know what you mean about wondering if you can actually drink any more water, sometimes it seems quite a task!
Today I have to go and open up and air Mum's house and do a little bit more sorting through prior to us selling it. It never feels quite right to go to her house without her being there but it's a job that has to be done, and we will have to sell some time this year, the care home she is in is sort of middling fees for this area but it's still quite eye watering the amount of money it costs!12 -
Morning everyone
Grey and drizzly here this morning.
Mam came up here for her lunch yesterday, which was a nice change for her, but as soon as she'd finished she was panicking and thinking she had to go straight home. I convinced her otherwise and we went for some shopping and had a cuppa in Marks and Spencers. Dad was in a good mood when we got back and planning his birthday in March, he'd been out for lunch with his carer.
I came home and went over to my friends house for a cup of tea, cake and a good natter.
Little one had managed to stay at school all day , though she did need Calpol at lunch time. Her tubey hole is still very painful, DD said she might take her back to the hospital today, I haven't heard anything yet.
Gers sorry to hear you have another infection, hopefully it's been caught quickly enough so it doesn't cause you too much discomfort.
Redruby hope your appointment is ok
Mehefin sweet peas are both my and my mams favourite flowers
Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning All
I leave too early to post whilst I'm on the bus, having a quick catch up at work between jobs!
Another one with rain today although thankfully it was fairly dry when I came in to work. It's very grey and miserable out there.
Sorry to hear you've a UTI Gers, just when you were getting used to being without them. Hope the ABs work quickly.
Fingers crossed the pond doesn't overflow Ruby. Hope your appointment goes well.
I love sweet peas, will be sowing them soon.
Well done on being a litter picker Mehefin, just be careful out on the road sides.
I've seen through my camera doorbell that the car has been taken away on a truck, it'll be a good few days before I hear from the garage as they are so busy but at least it's there.
Must dash before playtime begins. Take care. XX

Hello all, it's finally stopped raining but shush, I don't want to say it too loud in case it starts again. It's still on the cold side though only 7 degrees at the moment.
I had a productive day with the sorting yesterday but I'm having trouble getting rid of stuff, I need to talk myself out of keeping things for Justin Case ! I also did 2 loads in the wm and then we had a lovely visit from DD in the evening and had a good catch up.
This morning I have stripped the bed and put the bedding in the wm, it's too damp to dry outside sadly. Bring on the spring. I had a text from our health board this morning so now I can view all correspondence on line, which I did without help…..oooh! get me being so up with technology. Plus I now have a new appointment with the rheumatologist in March too.
This afternoon I shall remake the bed and put yesterdays washed clothes away. Tea tonight will be mediterranean chicken with a jacket potato.
Gers so sorry about the UTI again, hope you caught it early.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8 -
Afternoon all, thanks for today's thread @Gers. I'm sorry to hear the dreaded UTI is back but not surprised as you've had a lot on your plate to deal with recently - hopefully it's nipped in the bud before it gets worse.
Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen window, not perfect but certainly better than it was. The outside could probably do with a clean too but there seems little point with all this rain. And yes, it's raining again today. Is there no end to it? 😕 I made a batch of corned beef hash, some of which I'll have tonight and I'll portion up the rest for the freezer.
I didn't get out for a walk but did venture out to the bins to make sure my recycling is out for tomorrow's collection; I was struck by just how many glass jars and bottles I had to dispose of. Most of these have been from odds and ends that I've been using up over the last couple of weeks (peanut butter, beetroot, lemon curd, sweet pickle, piccalilli, cranberry sauce etc). I'm glad our council now accepts glass in the recycling bins rather than us having to take it to a bottle bank. That's fine if you have a local one that you can walk to or have a car if it's further afield, neither of which applied in my case so it makes my life a lot easier, especially as I already have a collection of clean empty jars and don't need more!
This morning I've been wrestling with that £7 off a £70 spend voucher and have sent off an order to be delivered tomorrow on a saver slot. I started with what I needed, then added on long shelf life cupboard staples that were on promotion prices and finally household stuff like toilet rolls, laundry liquid etc. The theory is I shouldn't need another delivery this month and any fresh stuff that needs replenishing (milk etc) I can get locally.
@TA - The quick wash is ideal for us singletons with small loads as well as saving on electricity, although I suspect any savings made will be spent on having the lights on most of the day. 🙄
@Ruby - Hope all goes well for you at the breast clinic today.
@mehefin - Very interesting about the ins and outs of being a 'litter champion', good too that you're now insured. I love sweet peas, especially the old fashioned varieties with their beautiful fragrance.
@MollyW - I hope it won't be too upsetting for you at your mum's house but, as you say, it's a case of needs must.
@nanny - Justin has a lot to answer for! 😬 Try as I might, I can't seem to evict him entirely!
Hugs for anyone needing or wanting one, stay dry (if you can), have a good day and take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
Ruby just popped back to say everything is crossed for you hope your mind is put to rest
