A friend of mine went for a bundle - TV/broadband/phone for £85 a month and he got a v+ box thrown in for free (currently £75).
I'm looking into this... anyone any issues with virginmedia? Can you pick up the Sky channels here i.e. Sky 1, movies and sport?? I remember some stuff in the press a few months ago about virgin not having the sky channels any longer.

I am a current Virgin media customer,
There is no Sky 1 anymore, movies and sport are still there. Virgin media have there own channel (virgin 1) full of old star trek & police stop.
The V+ box is ok, freezes now and again and needs a reboot.
Occasionaly we lose all our services (exept phone) for up to 2 hours.
Virgin customer services are ok at best. long times on hold sometimes.
Our contract ends this month and im off to SKY.
I miss the Simpsons, Lost and 240 -

I too use Virgin and have the £85 package i can say its ok and yes no sky 1 or sky 2 but thats all we did miss sky1 at first but no more i dont lose any services like the chilli dog said he best bit is the loads of channels on tv high speed broadband and it is high and free phone calls to all land lines but yes there is deals to be had phone their customer services and say you are a sky user and are at the end of contract and want to price compare and looking at deals. Use their retentions number for this although you arent a customer they caan do best deals that is if a non customer is allowed to use them, look at the AV Forum and read up on the deals to be had some are having a bargain... but haggle dont except first offer.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

I've been a BVirgin/Telewest customer for years and have had V+ since it was launched as the TVdrive by Telewest. It's an excellent device and although it's not totally trouble free I don't experience many problems. Remember it has a couple of differences to Sky+, firstly it has 3 tuners instead of 2 so you can record two channels whilst watching a third. Secondly you rent the box rather than purchase it so if there are problems Virgin fix it for free, thirdly you get the HD stuff thrown in (although it is limited). Finally thre's all the On Demand stuff which I don't think you get with Sky.
If the only thing you're worried about missing from Sky 1 is the Simpsons you could buy the DVDs.
One other point is that cable broadband is excellent and very reliable.
Also make sure you haggle, we have TV XL, Phone L and Broadband L for around £45 a month depending on call charges. We do get a big customer retention discount though. It's my problem, it's my problem

flamin ech i just called VM retentions said they had to put me through to sales as a new customer for deals, spoke to a chap there who was only able to offer the £80 quid deal full tv 2mg broadband and unlimited landline calls for £76 grrrrrr seen so many people here getting more for much cheaper how the hell do i do it lol? Told him i have been with sky for many years (which i have) and that i would like to go to VM but want a good deal, the deal he offered wasnt acceptable and i told him if cant do better ill stay with sky, he wouldnt budge on the offer. We only got a good deal after being with them for years and threatening to leave. A friend phoneesmd up after being with them for 10 months and said she was leaving at the end of 12 months and they improved her deal too. It's my problem, it's my problem

£76 is crap try again, and again after that if it helps. I know this isnt strictly correct but i could recommend you and i think you will get something for that a discount i think for a period of time i need to check to be sure. But the broadband are you sure it wasnt 20meg instead of 2meg. Check out the AV Forums they will put you in the right line to see what are the best deals going around.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.
