Morning everyone
It rained all night but we've actually got sunshine this morning!
Just a quickie this morning as I've been faffing on the laptop - my mam said yesterday that she'd love some new clothes, so I need some advice please. She used to shop at Wilkies in town, but it closed and we have no where else for womens clothes except for supermarkets. She wears dresses or skirts, she's never worn trousers and never will, she's almost 85 - has anyone any suggestions where we could look online?
She's coming up to my house for her lunch today and then we'll go for her shopping and a coffee, while dad is with his carer.
Hopefully little one has gone back to school today, I haven't heard from DD yet….oh now I have…she's gone to school but her temperature was high earlier, so they will check it at school.
Right I must get on, hope everyone has a good day x

Morning all, thanks @Gers for starting us off. We had a brief respite from the rain yesterday and, whilst the sun didn't stay around for long, it was at least a bit brighter until early evening. Several neighbours were out washing their cars; the young woman over the road has a chap come regularly to do a full super-duper valet of hers, inside and out. I'm glad she kept him plied with tea and/or coffee - he must have been frozen. Today it's going to be mainly cloudy with light rain, perhaps some brighter spells this afternoon.
Yesterday I had a tidy up of the freezer drawers while I was waiting for the new WM to finish doing its stuff. I've tried three programmes so far and I can see the quick 15 minute wash being a very useful feature. My last machine was fairly quiet but this one is even quieter and so far I'm impressed.
For once, the freezer contents matched what was on my inventory 😃 and I've made a mental note of a few odds and ends that can come out this week, including a very small tub of chopped green chillies that can go in tonight's risotto. Space is slowly appearing so I must resist the temptation to fill it up again! In the early evening DS phoned to let me know they're back from a weekend stay in Milton Keynes with his DP's parents; he said the rain had followed them back here.
Today's main job is to clean the kitchen window (inside only). If I were taller and had longer arms, it would be so much easier. 😕 I'd like to go out for a walk this afternoon but only if the weather plays ball. If not, I'll plod on with my cross stitch that's almost done.
This month seems to be dragging just as much as last month did so let's hope this new week will be kind to us all in one way or another. Take care, stay safe. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
DP1 Bon Marche do online shopping if you are not near a store. Ours is very popular with older ladies especially and reasonably priced. I aways get my jeans there tho no use to your mum I know!

@dp1 I too was going to suggest Bon Marche. My Mum is 83 and shops in Peacocks too as we have one in town still. Also Roman have some lovely dresses. Good luck x

@dp1 havevyou looked at Edinburgh Woollen Mill a elderly friend whose 88 buys clothes there, we do have a branch at our garden centre but they do have a online shop. Or Cotton Traders have a long line shop

Another option i have just thought of Dp1 is Damart. They do online. Not a big choice of things so your mum may not find looking too overwhelming.

@dp1 The best place I found for skirts for my Mum was Bon Marche, plus Damart, Cotton Traders, Lands End Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Chums. More expensive but very classic online ladies clothes would be Cotswold Collection and Country Collection.
Apologies for the late posting but I am now just getting back to some kind of normal following that unwelcome gout attack. The day after gout struck our central heating boiler had a hissy fit and started leaking water everywhere, we had to turn it off, limped through a couple of days without heating and hot water, then British Gas arrived and spent a couple of days putting things right and helping us to spend more of our money!9 -
Good to see you posting @MollyWindley - how annoying about the boiler, especially at this time of the year. Glad you've got it sorted now x

Thanks everyone, I'll take a look at all your suggestions. I'd forgotten she has an account with Damart, I think she used to buy pyjamas for my dad from there.
I knew you'd all have some ideas x
