    Oh yes, good spot! I recall it now, and it does seem clear that there was plenty of toing and froing about price between OP and the vendor from September to November, at which point OP finally (and reluctantly) made the first payment, so it does seem likely that the vendor no longer felt obliged (or even able) to meet the verbal promises of Christmas completion (made in September) after OP dragged their heels, so the characterisation of "much delayed supply and fitting times" doesn't really tell enough of the story!
