Morning all, it's hammering down again and my feet are playing up, think they're turning into webbed feet !
Yesterday the workmen arrived but they had to pump out the hole made the day before which is about 12ft long, 3ft wide and as deep as I am tall, before they could start ! The electric was restored with 15 minutes to go but there is now a gaping hole in the pavement from our gate to the one next door. Next doors drive is not accessible but thankfully our drive is as we are going to meet the new owners of our caravan tomorrow (our caravanning friends from over the valley who didn't want to pass up a bargain). I still have some cushions to take over which I have pulled out of my cupboards this morning and then I'll collect some personal items while I'm there.
Mr fix it has bought himself a new Japanese cleaver so has cut up some pork ready to make Cantonese sweet and sour pork for tea, we'll have it with rice. I've given up on cooking as I'm not enjoying my food and have lost 3lbs in a week.
Gers I'm glad yesterday went ok and that you now have the pair of your DM's paintings in your possession.
Scarlet enjoy your early celebration meal. 🥂🍾 Here's to many more birthdays.
Sorry to hear of so many heating, car and wm breakdowns, hope they are not to expensive to fix. Hugs to anyone who needs one and all the poorly ones, plus any family members.
Take care all and keep dry and warm if you can.
nan xx

Morning All
Gers glad yesterday went well and lovely you were given the picture.
My trip to London was enjoyable but very wet. Great to catch up after a long time. Trains were playing up on the way home but managed to get a seat and chatted to a nice chap who used go live in the town I lived in as a child.
DH woke up earlier than me and our heating timer wasnt working, after checking t'internet and two new batteries all working again.
Quieter day today have food in for weekend, might pop to see friends later and catch up with knitting.
Hope everyone has a good day hugs to all who want them.
NRA xx

Afternoon all
Just remembered I haven't been on!
Went shopping this morning as man came yesterday to sort our thermostat out. All working as it should now
Just finished watching the curling on the tv. Got into it watching it at the last Winter Olympics.
Have a good day all. Keep dry! x

Afternoon all, thanks @Gers for starting us off on what is yet another grey and gloomy day but - wonder of wonders - it isn't raining at the moment! I'm not getting giddy though, the showers aren't far away. 😕
I'm having a quiet weekend - nowhere to go, no-one to see - but that's OK as I have more than enough hobbies to keep me going between the day to day stuff. I used to do family research but have had a break for the last 4 years or so, partly because of time constraints/family commitments and partly because it's not especially cheap. However, Ancestry has an offer of £5 per month for 4 months (offer finishes on the 9th) so I've re-joined and am hoping that will give me enough time to find people in the 1921 census plus a bit of a tidy up on the family trees (one for me, one for my late DH). After that, I'll call it a day and have put a reminder on my calendar to cancel my membership before it renews at the full price of £13.95 per month.
Today I've done a bathroom tidy/clean and have divested the freezer of a cooked mince base for tomorrow (cottage pie) and a chicken leg (meat for a Bahian coconut curry) for later in the week. Tonight's tea is much simpler - soup and a sandwich. 😁 I wasn't intending getting a grocery delivery just yet but have a MOC for £7 off a £70 spend that's tempting me. It's valid for another 10 days so I'll hang fire for a while before deciding.
@Gers - How lovely of Lionel's niece to return the painting to you, it was definitely meant to be with its partner.
@Scarlet - Have a fab early birthday lunch.
@Coxy - Clever DH sorting out the WM.
@camelot - Oh dear, first the heating and now the car! Let's hope both can be remedied asap (and not too expensively) and there's no disaster #3 waiting in the wings!
@mehefin - I'm pleased you finally had a meet up with the new lady but sorry to hear there didn't seem to be a spark, despite having a lot in common.
@topsyturphy - Fantastic news about your secondment, I hope it all works out well for you.
Have a good weekend all, I hope the awful weather doesn't put a damper on things for anyone. Take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Afternoon everyone
Grey, drizzly and foggy here today. I was late getting up - I was too comfy! I've been into town to pick up a prescription and had a wander round the charity shops - I got a top for myself and one of those Fisher Price telephones for when DD gets a baby.
This afternoon I plan to finish sorting the boxes of paperwork that have been on my bedroom floor for far too long and then it will be an afternoon reading with my feet up. I started watching the new series of Bridgerton last night, I'll probably finish it today as it's only 4 episodes.
Gers - I'm pleased it went well yesterday and that you've been reunited with your mam's picture. My living room is full of Lowry pictures my dad painted after he retired, they are lovely and are often admired.
Topsy Turvy - excellent news, I hope you enjoy it.
Camelot - school dads can often come in useful, we had one volunteer to lay paving stones a few years ago and another dad supplied them. It was good timing to have your book out!
Nannywindow - your comment that Mr Fixit has a new Japanese cleaver made me laugh - I hope his fingers stay intact!
Right, I'm waffling…best move . Hope everyone has a good day x
