is the any way to access the above with out having to lose all dat on the phone

and any idea of cost

as phone is 6 years old and sim free as it seem some tried to acess it and reird to may time to gain access

Can you explain what you mean? If someone has input the password wrong multiple times then that normally goes into a countdown before the password can be attempted again, or have you forgotten the password? It can in theory be reset via the associated Samsung account, but to do that it needs to be connected to the internet in some form, either via Wifi or a working SIM.

Is the phone registered to Samsung's Find My Phone service?

Do you have the Samsung account login details?

Log in there and follow the instructions.

Any other method will reset the phone to factory settings (if you can get around the Google factory reset protection).

If the unlock pattern has been input wrong multiple times it goes to cooldown, or it can be overridden with the password, or as FL says it can be unlocked via the Samsung Find My Phone website.

Forget the Samsung site since it's only of use if you have a Samsung account and registered the phone to it.

The phone should allow you to enter the correct code after a timeout period. Anything mentioned on the lock screen as to when this might be?

If the Google account was set up on the phone then pretty much everything (maybe not WhatsApp conversations but those should have been set to backup anyway) should have backed up to your Google Drive. Just factory reset, enter details of the Google account and re-install.
