Received a text from dept collector but NO PCN received!

Hi all.

A little advice on how to proceed with this would be much appreciated.

I only found one similar case using the search thingy but that involved council controlled parking so was a little different.

To set the context I drive a dirty great LWB T350 Transit which we use for work and it doesn't really fit in a standard parking bay.

I can get the wheels within a bay but the bonnet and tail always overhang.

I particularly don't like the bonnet overhanging into the driving lane around supermarket car parks as it could and does obstruct other drivers view of potential pedestrians so often like other long vans and campers I find a 'through' space and overhang into the space behind.

Sometimes I come back to find a Smart car or something squeezed in the half space behind!

In mid January we visited our regular retail park and it was half empty, parking slightly lazily I left the rear wheels in the bay behind…

Lo and behold 10 days later a PCN lands on the mat from Premier Park.

Fair cop I thought and coughed up… Never realised how tenuous PCN's are.

Wish I had come here first as even in their photos you can see that the seven bays nearest the van are empty.

Then yesterday I received a text message and thought "I've paid that!" it must be a mistake, or a scam, or a data breach so I checked the original PCN and it's a different reference number.

Roughly speaking it reads -

Parking charge ref. XXXXXXX for AB12CDE issued by PREMIER PARK LTD is overdue (NO date or location stated)

It is your legal responsibility to settle this charge Bla Bla Bla.

Pay now to avoid potential late fees and clear your record today.

paydrp.co.uk or call (phone number) quoting ref YYYYYYYY.

We thank you in advance for your co-operation in this matter.

Now we changed our address a while ago and I must admit I have been a little tardy in updating our V5c's and driving licenses, online forms and all that stuff befuddle me and I am terrible at remembering what I have updated and what still needs sorting.

I even loose the lists I start making 🙄.

So I assume the 'offense' happened in the interim period after a re-direction order I had set up expired, but we are still in contact with our old neighbors, don't live far away and the new occupants have passed on mail in the past that has slipped the net so I find it odd that they wouldn't have passed mail on if they had received any…

So what do I do now?

I haven't contacted drp (whoever they are).

Could PREMIER PARK now have two addresses for me?

And how have drp suddenly got a phone number for me but no address or the wrong address?

Thanks In Advance.

Ignore DR Plus. See post 4 of the NEWBIES thread. We don't need to see nor discuss these £170 threatograms.

    Good. Keep it that way.

Could PREMIER PARK now have two addresses for me?

Yes, they do. Or at least, DR Plus does. You must put that right with an email to the DPO at DR Plus and to the DPO at Premier Park, confirming the right address and telling them to ERASE the old address. That is all.

Then ignore unless a Claim Form arrives.

And how have drp suddenly got a phone number for me but no address or the wrong address?

They have done a soft trace and they have found your phone number and your new address from data such as your financial accounts. Which is allowed.

They've auto-generated a text first because that costs peanuts.

They will also send a letter but DON'T show the tedious rag to us please! See post 4 of the NEWBIES thread for the pictures of the £170 threatograms. We don't want or need to discuss them and if one more person posts a pic of a DR Plus letter I think I will self combust!

But you MUST rectify your data even though they have traced you. Never leave a PPC or their pet scammer with two addresses to choose from.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
