Tax free allowance

Am one of two children- our father left everything to our Mum - bar tax free allowance! If a child wanted to claim this amount rather than carry it forward (relations are very rocky/almost non existent with Mother) where does one stand?

If this pertains to Scotland and children's rights then if you want to claim you write to executor stating that.
of you don't want to claim then you write confirming you do not want to claim.
Thwere is nothing to carry forward.
You either receive your share or you have recinded your claim and the estate is paid out per the will.
