Spa break in Bath?

Options
With Xmas out of the way, I am planning my 50th birthday weekend away, with 15 - 20 friends. Ideally in Bath, with spa facilities for a relaxing pampering weekend. Does anyone have any recommendations that won't break the bank, but a good standard for 2 nights in June/July. Any suggestions gratefully received!

If you want a hotel WITH spa facilities then honestly I don't think you will find anything that won't break the bank.

What about the travelodge and the pay for a 2 hour session in the new spa (£20).
Make sure you book at the spa for the weekend as it's quite popular.

Best place to park is charlotte street which is £8 for 24 hours and close to the travelodge.

Sorry but Bath, spa and cheap don't really go very well together in one sentence.

Thanks. We can probably afford more than the Travellodge, I'll have a look into booking the new spa.

    What about this one.
£314 at coombe grove manor including dinner and treatments.

I have been to the paramount (now barcelo) in Torquay and I think these packages are pretty good value.

BTW - it's not in the city center
  • I went for the thermae bath spa and it's quite good. If you travel in by fgw trains, you can use the 241 voucher which will give you 4 hours for 20quid. :)

If you're on a higher budget, you can always try out one of the packages they offer. www.thermaebathspa.com

A friend and I found a very cheap deal a couple of years ago over the net at the Bath Spa Hotel, which was very luxurious (5 star). It has sauna, fitness suite and treatments and is very elegant.

I can't find any special offers at the moment, although you could use Tesco Clubcard points if you have them, as it's a Macdonald Hotel (I think).

THankyou. I have emailed the recommended hotels to see what they can offer our group.

The one mentioned by pandora is fabulous.

The only other one I can think of is the Royal Crescent.
If you are emailing then it might be worth a go but it's pretty exclusive as well.

    hi jamjar

I've just come back from bath with a friend. We had the thermae spa entree package which was fabulous. We got 4 hours with the spa facilities - including amazing rooftop spa pool, aromatherapy steam rooms etc - plus a massage and facial which were amazing. The package cost £65 and you also get free use of robe/slippers/towels. The place is really lovely and the treatments we had were just faultless!
We also stayed in the travellodge and I have to say that I was very pleasantly suprised. We paid £29 online for our room which was really large with king bed, sofa, lots of hanging space, massive mirror and a view over Bath. Its also very central, right in the middle of Bath.
I think it depends what you want. I wouldn't stay in the travellodge on a weekend with my hubby for example but if you're going with friends and are likely to spend alot of time out of your hotel shopping/dinner/drinks etc then I wouldn't dismiss it. As I said, I was very pleasantly surprised and it freed up all the more cash to spend on enjoying myself!

I can only echo what is said here.
The treatments are very good (and I've been to quite a few places).
They are not cheap but my own experience of treatments is that you definitely get what you pay for.
There is a special relaxation area for people having treatments which is very relaxing and a bit exclusive (away form all the people in the pools as it WILL be busy).

The only thing that's a bit strange is standing right next to 8 nearly naked (and dripping) people in a lift :-)

I told a friend to take his girlfriend here and she came out saying she definitely wanted to marry him so a it will definitely be a big hit with the girls (my husband enjoyed his treatments too).

Thank you all. I'm really looking forward to it now, well the weekend, not being 50! Just waiting for a couple of replies to emails and then I'm all ready to book.
