It's the individuals responsibility to renew. Reminders are sent every year so the question should be why were they ignored? As unhappy as you are it's not overcharging

    This comes up quite regularly.

Somebody's son/daughter/nephew/niece/dog from next door just so happens to look at a random bill and realises the relative is paying far too much, has been paying that for years and this is the first the bill observer know about it.

The question has to asked why are you getting involved now and why didn't you get involved sooner?

Customer's responsibility to ensure they are on the right tariff(s) for them, not the provider to look into. If that has to be through some other relative that's what you do.

This is not overcharging and this is nothing to do with "a wider pattern affecting senior customers". Plenty of 60/70/80/90 and I dare 100+ year old people who know what they pay and what they should be paying.

I suggest rather than complaining about it, change tariff to something more suitable. Or a social tariff if that works out better. Or pick another provider.

What does elderly mean, what qualifies one to be called elderly.

I'm 79 but dont consider myself elderly and am quite capable of making sure that I'm getting value for money by shopping around.

Likewise many of my friends are well into their 80's with one or two who have achieved 90. None of them are incapable or sorting out their bills even though they may have to use a walking stick. They may have aches and pains but they aren't mentally incompetent.

Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
