    Just to be clear, 'switching' can mean different things to different people - in the context of bank account discussions on here, it normally refers to using the Current Account Switching Service, which automates the process, shifting direct debits, redirecting future payments, etc, but needs to be to another joint account if that's what the existing account is.

    Alternatively, if you just mean 'switching' in the looser sense of opening and starting to use a new account, then that could be a sole one for her, if that's what you were perhaps implying.

    Downgrading the account to a normal Santander Everyday current account would be the simplest solution, especially given that time sounds to be short (and I'm sorry to hear that).

    Nothing would change but the account name and no fees but no interest.
