The British Gas Big Switch tariff doesn't show up if you select gas only

The MSE email said the British Gas Big Switch tariff was "For: Dual fuel/elec or gas only". I only want to switch gas, as I'm on Octopus Agile for electricity and that's working well for me. If I go to the Cheap Energy Club results page, it shows me the dual fuel British Gas Big Switch tariff at the top, but if I then filter to gas only, it no longer appears. Is the email wrong? Is this a glitch in the Cheap Energy Club website?

I think the email is correct. BG usually offer gas only option from their dual fuel tariffs.

I would suggest emailing MSE at energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com - they'll be able to advise

Ah, the results are being returned correctly in the app, so I've been able to switch there.

So if anyone else is experiencing the same problem – try the app, or if you were using the app, try a browser on a computer!

I was just coming here to say something similar! I've just discovered that for gas my standing charge (99% of my annual bill) would be going up by about 10% at the end of my fix in a couple of weeks so was fishing around for alternatives. For a company that claims to dislike the Standing Charge, Octopus seems quite happy to profit from it. Just a bit wary of how rubbish customer service is with other companies though - having had bad experience with EDF and Scottish Power

Are they profiting from it? In my region is is sitting at a little below the level that Ofgem state. I was under the impression that Octopus were one of the companies that always tracked fractionally under the "standard".

My Agile electric SC is 62.06p and gas - as from next month will be 34.01p as opposed to the price cap for our area of 54.75p and 35.09p. Difficult to see the justification for Agile to be so much over the SVT especially with the weighting for peak time use and 1p under the SVT is hardly worth the bother!

yes - the Agile SC has been a bit out of kilter, that I agree with. You were talking about gas though which was what I was responding to. Having just checked, my agile SC appears to be around a penny below the regular level for my region at the moment, it certainly was higher at one stage though - I hadn’t noticed the change!
