Delaying Service to match MOT date
Hello,
My 2019 Citroen C3 Aircross is due for its service this month, and the MOT can be done on or after 23rd April. As I absolutely hate going to the garage I was wondering if I could delay the service so they were both done together. Would that work?
Mileage wise it does around 6000 a year, generally local commuting with an occasional trip from Nottingham to the North East (where one child lives); it was also doing trips to South Wales but my other child has moved back home! I also check the levels and tyres every month.
Thanks
Phillip

If it is a normal engine, then on a 2019 car it won't hurt the value or affect the car putting on another 1000 miles.
If it is a puretech, then Stellantis will clap their hands with glee, because 2 months late on the service will 100% be their stated reason for wet belt failure, and they won't have to fix it under their Gritted Teeth Puretech Sort of Warranty.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I would, you are out of all warranties now so no comeback from there. Alternatively just get it MOT'd at the same time service is due (small cost implication) or do it all in March. When does it need a cambelt?

Yes, that’s usually fine. You can delay the service a little and have it done at the same time as the MOT, especially with low annual mileage like yours. Just don’t let it go too far past the service interval, and you’ll be absolutely fine.

I’d get it serviced and MOT’d this month.

If it is a Puretech, the belt's due now anyway, if it's not been done yet. Bet the old one's just fine, assuming the right oil's been used in the previous services. For 6k/year, I'd hope it's a petrol, anyway…
Not a big job, about 2.5hrs. Only use a genuine Dayco kit.
Yep, delay the service a month or two, or bring the MOT forward. Neither will cause your car to explode in smoke and flames.0 -
Thanks for your comment, just for info it is the dreaded 1.2 PureTech 110 registered 1st October 2019 so the next service will be the dreaded timing belt change! (The change in service month from October to February is due to Covid).

Obviously not my money I'm spending, but I'd delay the service to the MOT and get the belt changed this time, I wouldn't run a puretech right up to the stated belt change interval…..

It's really not that dreaded. Price of the parts, plus 2.5hrs labour for anybody who has a clue. And, yes, do it this year - 6.5yo…
Interesting that you weren't worried about moving the service four months, but are about moving it two…0 -
Well let's just say Cinch was involved!

OP, I brought my service forward 3 months as it had slipped to June from March due to Covid. Turns out that the dealership do the MOT for free when you have the service done at the same time, so it saved me money. Mine is also a 1.2 Puretech on a Peugeot and the belt was done on the 6 year service in 2024 (2018 plate).
