Morning all, thanks for starting us off this morning @Gers. I'm another one fed up with the weather and would love some sunshine and warmth too but I guess that's wishful thinking at the moment! It's grey and misty, supposedly milder but it doesn't feel like it to me.
Our Housing Manager is on the warpath again and I can't say I blame him. Parking around here has always been limited and difficult but it's got much worse over the last 12 months or so with people parking on pavements, verges and the open plan grassed areas around the maisonette blocks. And driving over the grass when they get blocked in - it's quite unnerving seeing a car going past your window at a distance of not much more than a couple of yards away. 😮 All residents in my street and a couple of adjoining streets have now had a letter from him pointing out the resulting safety issues, unsightliness and repair/maintenance costs. I doubt his request for more responsible behaviour will have much effect so it will be interesting to see what his next step will be!
My old washing machine has gone off to the tip and the new one has just arrived. It's currently sitting in my hallway and I'll let my NDN know so he can install it for me. It's lovely to have kind and helpful neighbours. If this one lasts as long as its predecessor it will probably see me out! As there's only little old me it takes a while to amass a full load so I'm looking forward to using the small load wash cycle that takes just 15 minutes.
Gentle pottering around the house today and hopefully I can at least make a start on the sewing pile. Easy tea tonight of a small pizza with side salad. I'll top it with extra cheese (there's never enough on shop bought ones) and shredded ham.
@Ruby - That's quick service, I hope the referral appointment will put your mind at ease.
@Chrisca - Pansies are so cheerful, they're one of my favourite plants and never fail to gladden these dull days.
@TA - Glad you had a lovely day out yesterday, I hope today will be just as good. A change of destination too!
@Coxy - Fingers crossed this morning's work discussion brings the desired results for you.
@Izzy - Your granny's saying made me laugh - so true.
@Gers - Shame about the portable hob and boo to the dozy painter. Tip for tinned tomatoes - a small spoonful of sugar combats the acidity.
@nanny - Our roads (pavements too) are patched up so often they look like patchwork quilts! I hope you and Mr Fix It have a lovely nana nap this afternoon.
@dp1 - Poor LO, I hope the hospital can do something to ease and cure her infection.
@-taff - Ignore the grass - it's far too early yet to be doing that!
Commiserations for the sleepless ones and healing wishes for the poorly brigade. Have the best day you can, take care, stay warm and dry. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Good morning(well it was when I started!) from cold and yuk Mehefinland
A full on council meeting last night but everything went ok and we nearly beat the record for the shortest meeting lol.
Back from visiting year 1 in the school and trying to tell a load of 6 and 7 yr olds about the changes in our village . Teacher had kindly loaded some pictures up so we were able to talk about them. I had forgotten what the noise levels were like with a load of small children, and I had to pitch my talk at a much lower level than I usually do. A noisy but invigorating half hour or so. Blooming cold walking back home though.
My sweetpea seedlings I started on the kitchen windowsill are romping away so they have gone into the greenhouse today. I have already been asked by two people if I was growing Cosmos again this year for the library plant sale -obviously a hit! Probably a little early, but I may try a few to see how they go.
Been asked by the treasurer of the Chorale to give her a hand with grant applications. Not sure quite what she is expecting of me but meeting up on Friday. She has just come back from a skiing holiday with a leg in plaster , so I expect she is finding things hard going.
Also applied to be a 'litter champion' with Keep Wales Tidy. A logical step in many ways as they provide all the gear and more importantly - insurance!. Have to go for an induction next week .
Roof repair seems to be ok - heavy rain yesterday and not a drop inside. Load off my mind - although something is niggling as I was wide awake at 4am again. Oh well a snoozette may be in order later.
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek

DD and little one are on their way home…little one had an xray and bloods taken and a doctor has prescribed a stronger cream which has antibiotics and steroids in it and said to take her back next Thursday if it's not better.
Fingers crossed it will get rid of the infection x
