UKPC & CCJ

hello, I’m desperately after some advice. I received a parking fine from UKPC in June 2025. I wasn’t sure if it was a scam or not so left it and left it. Kept getting letters the what looked like court papers. I panicked and paid ukpc via a QR code (£170, I know stupid!) because I didn’t want a CCJ. They see to have given me one anyway and no one is answering my emails or phone calls. I’m really stressed about it now. I checked my credit score and it was low with a high impact against me which I suppose is the CCJ? I keep getting billed for £283 which is the £170 I already paid plus more. Help please!

It's standard practice for these parking companies to fire out increasingly aggressive letters but once you start getting notifications from a court then that's the time to start paying attention if you hadn't been before. You need to look out any paperwork you have from the court, not just pre-hearing but since then too (you should obviously have received the CCJ and been given the chance to pay it, to avoid it from being reported to your credit files), and read carefully in order to understand what's happened - obviously settling a debt ought to prevent court action but maybe it was a timing issue?

Post back with details of what you received, and, importantly, when, and hopefully you can get some guidance from there…

If you do come back to your post, try asking on the parking fines board, or take a look at the sticky post there, as this is a very common occurrence with these parking companies.
