Speeding fine

Unfortunately I have revived a speeding fine. I was doing 52 mph in a 30mph (I was not aware this was a 30 mph zone, no houses and no sign prior) with a mobile van camera.
I have no convictions, no points, I pay everything I need to pay.

I have been looking and I’m expecting a band C fine … but what does this normally mean? I feel like a criminal tbh
Will I get a driving ban? (I’m quite worried about this)

How many point will I get?
has anyone been in this situation?

Thanks

There will have been signs, you probable just failed to see them. To fast for a speed awareness course and a couple of mph over the speed that would have got you a fixed penalty of 3 points and a £100 fine. You will probably get 4 points and a fine based on your income.

Court guidelines are generally for a ban at category c level. Fine is max £1000, up to 6 points on licence.

Band C fine at 150% of relevant weekly income

    4-6 points

    7-56 day driving ban

You need to take advice about mitigation.

Are you sure about "no sign"?

Arguing that you were unaware of the speed limit is no defence, in fact it could be considered worse by any court as driving without due care and attention. 30 mph zones are street light zones and may also have signs to assist drivers know the limit. Speed awareness courses assist with this awareness, ’sadly your speed puts you out of this territory and into the fine zone and points. Worse your insurance will go up.

    FTLA speeding

  • OP, I get it; you did not see any signs as it can be very confusing, especially on new to you.

So, was this strech of road new to you?

What made you do 52mph and not 60/70 or 40mph?

It's a hefty difference of speed between 30mph and 52 mph.

I guess if you are lucky, very lucky and the road is new to you, driving conditions ie weather, time of day, etc.) are good, and it is your first offence, you may get 4 points. Most likely you will get 6 and a fine and if they throw the book at you

ie being aware of having used the road before many times/frequently, they may ban you for a week or few, ine and points.

It's hard to use other than you will get points and a fine at the very least and the minimum points will be 4 and a fine if you are lucky.

Though not 100% accurate - I have my satnav on most of the time and this will display a speed limit. However, the resposiblity is yours and you can't blame the satnav, so I use it as guidance to back up my knowledge.

The speed limit mistakes I've noted on my satnav ie car reads road signs is that it can pick up side road speeds which are often 20mph and I've never noted it to wrongly give me a higher speed than allowed but I'm sure it can make a mistake and miss a speed sign just like we humans can

But don’t go there and post the same limited info you have given here otherwise you will be given short shrift. Read the read me first thread before posting.
