Evening all, and welcome to @MoneyChoices2
Sorry to hear that your weekend away exhausted you, HB - hope you've recovered your equilibrium by now x
Get well soon, MMM x
I nearly had a day off today, but I have decluttered more baking ingredients and made even more cakes for Sunday's 'do' at church, which means that I have also done a fair bit of WUDUPA. A church friend invited me and two others to lunch at her house, and we sat and chatted from 12.30 to 4.00 and could have gone on much longer, if one of the others hadn't needed to get home in time to see her Avon lady.
As all the actual baking is now done, there are just a couple of cakes to cover with butter icing and decorate, and some labels to make and print. If I put my mind to it, I may be able to get everything finished early tomorrow, before the main talks begin on the online FH conference that I want to attend - no point in wasting a free ticket! Best get to bed early, then.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and stays dry xxx

Hi all
Well it's been an eventful few days, lots going on at the paid stuff, I took my parents to a funeral today, and yesterday we found out that our shared septic tank has been pretty much condemned. This means that a) we will have to find anywhere up to £20,000 for a new treatment plant and b) the garden needs to be dug up. It's a lot to take in.
Flying is being chipped away at as and when. It's constantly dark, rainy and dreary. No idea what the weekend brings.

oh YL that sounds horrendous
Welcome MC2
all ironing done, DW and WM locked and loaded. Bed stripped and remade. For periods of a few minutes today I have been pain free (sadly not right now, though). Bins emptied and stuff shifted.

Welcome MC2.
That's a heck of a shocker YL. I hope you find a solution that is manageable.
Fayollle, I love making granny squares and it was a real red letter day when I found a pattern I really liked that I can do while watching TV that I don't have to think about. I've made several blankets, most of which I give away. We've got my favourite on our bed, and I'm currently using up scraps, which keeps me occupiedin the evenings. I've unfortuantely managed to acquire quite a stash so I can't let myself buy any more wool.
I haven't been brilliant this week, and am defo not good today but I've kept on top of tidying inspired by Ionafan's PUAPA ten things, and kept on top of vacuuming. Other than that it's been a half-hearted week. I'm hoping things will look up next week.
Thank you to the Lovely Flylady who send me some very useful things. I hope they were regarded as filingage by you because they're precious useful things to me.
Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.5 -
Morning all,
Welcome MC2.
Oh my, YL, what news. Big hugs x
HB, I hope you get back to feeling your old self soon. Lots of relaxation prescribed for the weekend x
Yesterday there was zero flying. I took DH to big town first thing to pick up his repaired car. Dashed backas we had friends coming for coffee at 11am and it’s a 40 mile round trip, not helped by persistent downpours and puddles helpfully covering the so-called potholes that are actually collapsed roads. All was fine, DH got back too and we had a lovely catch up with our friends. DH had no sooner moved the car onto our drive than the alarm started going, along with all the other symptoms that the car had before it went for repair. Back to big town to drop the car back and to bring DH home. The car is still at the garage, watch this space…
This morning I have been making up for lost time. - the bathroom has been given the level 3 treatment, along with the landing, stairs and hall. DD was away last night, so I took the opportuntiy for a cursory vacuum clean of her bedroom floor. Wm x 1 done, dw emptied. A couple of odd jobs to do then it is time this afternoon to sort out some dressmaking projects. I have enrolled on an online course for fitting, so I am about to have to face the reality of what the tape measure tells me, rather than what I would like it to say 😳

Morning, it's another day struggling with this cold/flu bug.
My list for today

I think that is everything that I need to tackle today, as I'm going to focus on getting rest and trying to get rid of this bug. I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday/weekend.

Sorry to hear about your septic tank problem, YL. It's an awful lot of money - I hope the costs will at least be shared between the users x
Just do what you can, HB. We are not miracle workers. Most of my flying this week has been PUPA.
I made another traybake this morning - just a plain sponge, but I decorated it with leftover vegan chocolate icing (the cake itself is not vegan) and broken Maltesers, and I'm calling it "Vanilla with chocolate crunch topping." I also iced the carrot cake [nom-nom] and coffee cake. There are enough cakes for 100 people to have at least once piece each, but everything can go in my freezer if it isn't taken away from tomorrow's event or left at church to go with the coffee after the midweek services.
I took Rosie for a short, very muddy walk between the showers, which she tolerated. This evening I've filled and started the DW, and WUDUPA everything that wouldn't/couldn't fit in; done WMx3 (DH's clothes for the week), semi-TD'd and hung them all on the bathroom radiator to finish drying; and scanned another photo for my former colleague and emailed it to her; .
DH showed me a picture on FB of a crying red dragon, so I'm leaving him to mope over the rugby result and have come up to my study to watch one of the talks from the online family history show (I've got 7 days to watch them all). I have treated myself to a £1.99 Kind1e book on breaking down brick walls: if there's even one useful hint in it, it will be worth the money.
I'm expecting to be busy all day tomorrow so will see you later on the new thread xxx

Oh - won't the new format thing let you 'quote' then delete the bit of the quote you don't need? How odd … I was wanting to reply/comment on just one sentence of what someone posted, not the whole lot. Mad.
So welcome to Moneychoices 2.
Commiserations to YL, that is a lot of money for something highly necessary but which you can't look at and admire.
Well done Fayolle, yes I feel the same way about my simple fingerless glove knitting pattern - I don't know how many I've knitted now but they always seem to find homes. Still, probably better and more productive to do while watching TV than doing a jigsaw on my tablet (a 'hobby' I picked up during the pandemic).
Flying etc flew and was all managed before BIL's arrival on Thursday. Meal plan has worked well and not been too difficult; it is clearly a brotherly trait to wash up etc after I've cooked, so no problem. We had a lovely evening when another friend joined us for Thursday's meal, then a good evening at a talk by Hamza (wildlife photographer/presenter and Strictly winner) yesterday. Today it was too wet & miserable even for me to swim as I was concerned about the dirt track road to the lake, which was slippery last week so will be even worse this week. We went to a bird reserve instead and, in a very MSE and domestic feat, I'd put the breadmaker on in the morning then made soup when we got back. Soup (butternut, carrot and onion) was 10 mins roast in oven then 5 mins in pressure cooker. Great.
The only bit of flying I need to catch up on is washing; it was ok up till Thursday but persistent rain since has put me off although it will have to be done, so extra spin and the maiden come into play.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.6 -
Morning all xx
Saturdailies were completed around the Winter Olympics. The same will happen with today's list.
Sorry to hear about your septic tank YL. Sending hugs as at a loss what to say xx

Morning all. One washload done and mostly dry. Obviously it's raining outside. Not much else going on, I did a roast dinner yesterday because I just felt like it so dinner will be easier today. I've read the newspaper, done the puzzles (as far as I could) and now I'm going to put dinner on. We always have our main meal at lunchtime.
Hope everyone's OK x
