Hi there,
I'm investigating whether i can afford to move out etc, i know roughly what my mortgage would be each month and also the bills i have already, car, phone etc...but what else do i need to think about paying for each month?
Can anyone give me a ball park rough guess figure for gas/elec, council tax, water, etc..?
it would be me, on my own, 2 bed house.
Thanks!

This is what I pay on a 2 bed place on my own (per month):
gas & electric £75
water £40
council tax £80
TV licence £12
phone/broadband £30
as an owner/occupier you will also need buildings and contents insurance (I don't have these as I rent and don't have anything of value in the house) - you can easily get quotes for these online0 -
I would expect the GAS + Elec to be half of that above, I pay £48 per month to heat up a 3 bed detatched house with 2 adults and 3 kids. That has been consistent for three years at 4024KWH elec and 10274KWH gas with scottish power.0

£1000 max for gas and electric, £500 if you pay attention to insulation, the right supplier and how your property faces the weather. Anything less than £400 you are a low user. Quite possible if you are never there.
Talk Talk and Tiscali, maybe some others, are doing phone/broadband for £15 plus daytime calls.0 -
i'm in a similar situation.
I've looked on uswitch etc for the cheapest options and they ask for current supplier, product i'm using, how much i use etc.. i'm currently living with parents so i don't have that information so how do i go about comparing different companies?

There is an option on the comparison site, Jenyking, to put in the type of property. And a lot depends on your intended lifestyle.Home all day or away at work.0
