We flew back from Skiathos with Jet2 and we had paper boarding passes but the bulk of others had them on one phone ,the girl at the gate asked people for their phones and just scanned one ,swiped across and did the other for couples ,did it without looking so no drama,s , i am sure even Ryanair can cope with this.

Exactly. One person scans, the other walks through, repeat until the last person goes through. That's how its worked for our family for ten plus years and 20-30 flights.
