Conservatory issues

  • I'm pleased for you, as the stress, time-wasting, worry etc should not happen.

This is not aimed at you but at the general public. When buying a service, look at their negative reviews, see if there is a pattern, see if they respond to negative reviews, even if they do respond to negative reviews, is it just a simple, "contact us with your details" and is there no follow-up etc, IMO, I'd be careful

When I had problems with our DG company, I updated the outcome on the TP reviews and summarised how we got there.

When buying double glazing/conservatory, etc., try to ensure you can buy an insurance-backed guarantee, i.e., if the company goes out of business, etc. Importantly, FENSA cannot help with conservatory problems.

I've noted with conservatories, often the problem is at the joint to the back of the house on a bungalow as the joint is right next to the bungalow's gutter and diffuclt to prove at times if its the bungalow's gutter/roof leak getting into the conservatory, etc. The next problem is where the conservatiry joins a side/back wall—often its a sealant failure.

A few years ago we had a 'Warm Roof' conversion on our conservatory. The guy did a good job, when we turned up, but repeatedly ignored requests for the paperwork e.g. Building Regs, electrical work, warranty.

I put a poor review up including the fact that I hadn't been given the warranty (supplied through a trade body which I named). A couple of days later I received an e-mail from that trade body, saying they had contacted him and 'advised him' of his responsibilities. I received all paperwork within a couple of weeks. Sometimes trade bodies do care about the customer.

Well while they turned up and seemed to be conscientous the leak has not been solved unfortunately. They are now coming again at the end of this week and the plan now is to seal the box gutter using a sealant which I believe they will apply to the whole gutter. Fingers crossed this works
